In the episode’s closing scene his companion Rose and all her friends were running out to have fun in the unexpected snow storm when the doctor stopped her and informed her it wasn’t snow. When Rose asked him what it was if it wasn’t snow he told her it was ash from the aliens burning up as they reentered the atmosphere.
