I went to my first Comic Cons this year. I thought that the attendees were some of the most accepting, tolerant, and friendly people I’d ever met at a large event. Everyone was there for a good time, and they were polite and did not push in line. You could dress as anything you wanted to and there was no criticism. I think that this attitude should be carried over into everyday life. (I saw it work, once, in New York City a long time ago, when grey Wall Street was regularly visited by ‘Rollerina’. He made the stockbrokers smile.)
Look for English Country Dancing in your community. Not the Jane Austen people; they’re into authenticity. Just the “regular” people. We definitely accept EVERYONE, and I mean everyone! You’d love it. oops, recruitment over…
If I ever make it to the L.A. Comic Con I will look you up Al, as well as Nathan Fillion, I want to find out if he really is as nice as he seems ;p and Mellissa O’Neil of Dark Matter

You are hilarious!! Yeah, I also scare young people with my enthusiasm about their work sometimes. So fun to get a glimpse into comic-con!

At any rate, keep it up, girlfriend. To be able to talk about your true tribulations as you do…it’s a gift!

Did they still call it Comic “Con” before the prices got so expensive?
