Phoebe: All night everybody kept asking me if I was a comma. I'm CLEARLY an apostrophe. Marigold: It is a more familiar punctuation mark, to those of us who do not use contractions. In fact, we regard the apostrophe as an abomination, and your costume as a profound insult! Phoebe: You told me you LIKED this costume. Marigold: Oh, I do! I am just pulling your comma tail.

What about utilizing the apostrophe to signify possession (“Phoebe’s unicorn” for example)? Not unless they prefer “of” (“the unicorn of Phoebe”) instead.

I looked back, and the last time Marigold used an apostrophe was on the 21st, “If we are going to a dragon’s Halloween party…”
(though it would seem more appropriately “Hallowe’en”)
