Phoebe: What kind of stuff did you guys learn in college?
Dad: Hm, let's see. I really learned to like coffee.
Phoebe: What else?
Dad: Nothing! That's it.
Phoebe: Oo, can I start drinking coffee and then skip college?
Mom: No and no.
Dad: We'll talk later.

I’ve learned that reruns usually mean Dana is busy doing something else, and I’ve heard rumors that people in hollywood have been talking with her. And I still want to start my acting career.

I guess one thing my father learned in college (Brigham Young University as a Methodist) was The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Me, too. I used to think that coffee was too bitter for me. A few all-nighters, and now I’m a veritable coffee sponge.

I learned to take my math classes in the morning. My brain was functional, the rest of me was catching up, and it worked well.

gross Coffee! Bleh! I think I’d die if I had to drink that! I’d rather be woken up at 4:00 in the morning to start horseback riding!

I also learned that I really liked coffee. And then I dropped out of college because there’s nothing else to learn.

My mom initially discouraged me from drinking coffee. Then later she would try to encourage me by giving me coffee candy, and say, “This it what it tastes like if you put in enough cream and sugar.” I never got in the habit of drinking coffee. By the time I got to college, I was too busy avoiding alcohol.

Discovered burgers with mayo, and buttered toast for breakfast. Soothing, so you can go right back to your dorm and crash again before noon classes.

I think what Dad wants to say is you can learn to like coffee and nothing else and still go to college; that is, if you went to The Evergreen State College like we did. (Just kidding about TESC—it was awesome. Got my BSci and MSci there. Those were halcyon days indeed.)And I love that Max wears a TESC t-shirt.

Heh, funnily enough, one of the things I learned during college is that I can’t stand the smell of coffee, bad enough that tasting it was out of the question. I’ll stick with hot cocoa, thanks.

I learned that coffee is supposed to smell good even if you hate the taste. I don’t understand how anybody can enjoy that stench.

If there is an animated something coming up, the only thing I can say is BE CAREFUL!! When you already love something that’s in writing, you know what they should look like and you already have the voices in your head. The wrong look, the wrong voices can RUIN an animated adaptation, and then possibly spoil the written version also.

Most of what I learned involved messing with people in the dorm elevator.

My roommates gave me coffee to study once… I didn’t sleep for 48 hours! They didn’t tell me they put so much caffeine! And this strip process that you are only bound to remember the trivialities rather than what you were taught.

Dana may be doing Hollywood stuff, but she’s definitely doing book signings and comic conventions.
What did I learn in college? In hindsight, mainly that Charles Williams was a genius, and that not all operas are as stupid as Gounod’s “Faust”. Plus groups, rings, and fields—I never used them as such, but it’s a great way to improve one’s abilities in abstract thought. (It’s also a lot easier to understand relational databases if you know what a “relation” is.)
