Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for December 24, 2016
Transcript:
Phoebe: My dad hides my Christmas presents really carefully so I can be "surprised". But I never am, 'cause my gifts mainly come from a Christmas list that I wrote. It's like this elaborate holiday dance we do every year. Marigold: I, too, have one of those. Phoebe: I've seen. Yours involves a lot more butt shaking.

Care to show us this dance of yours, Marigold? Hey, maybe you could use a partner?

I once heard “Gangnam Style” reffered to as the “horsey dance”. But if you ask me, that’s more butt bouncing than shaking.

With a Christmas list, you won’t be surprised, but you’ll probably get what you want. No list means the surprise element. I on the other hand, am practically forced to ask for things so my folks won’t feel bad, and most of the gifts are not even on the list.

I know how Phoebe feels. My mother and I not only worked out my list together, but then, we’d go shopping for what I wanted as well. The only thing that was a surprise for me was that since Mom wrapped everything after I was in bed, I didn’t know what was in which package …

Easy solution to that, Pheobe, just do what I do…write up a long multi-page list of everything you could ever imagine wanting and tell everyone who asks for it “pick one. It’s only long to keep me from knowing what you got me.”
