I agree! :-) My mother had her gut instinct about her paintings whether she felt satisfaction or not. Sometimes she asked me what did I think of her painting. I advised her to tweak on the painting and she did take or not either. She felt much better. I love my mum’s paintings very much. I do really miss her dearly. Oh well!
You are always your own biggest critic, well at least I am always my own biggest critic. Makes what you do better though, because it is never good enough.
Well, folks, if it ain’t makin’ her happy - as so many of y’all have been sayin’ sooo sympathecially (If it makes you happy, you should keep on piling the paintings up in the attic) - AND she knows when she sees it, it’s time to find another hobby - preferably one that she’s good at………
She’s good at ”Macra-maybe”……..or ”Knit-witting”……..or ”Darn-lousy-ing socks”……..or ”Cro-blo-cheting”……..or, WHACKING PEOPLE OVER THE HEAD WITH BOOKS - we KNOW she’s GREAT at that!!!……..Or, maybe GRUMPINESS could become an OLYMPIC SPORT - she’d SCREAM her way to the GOLD, no doubt about THAT one!
40 years ago, I swore a solemn vow and promise to myself that I would not take up painting–especially oil or acrylics. I’d walked through a mall exhibiting the work of a local recreation or senior center. The paintings were unbelievably bad; and I decided that something that could impair the perpetrator’s judgment to that extent was to be strictly avoided.
I haven’t taken up painting. However, I do take a lot of photographs…
