Or that guilt trip from yesterday, this might be my last Christmas! And wouldn’t you feel guilty for not spending it with me? Why don’t they just spend the Saturday after Christmas with them since Christmas is on a Friday this year?

There is usually a football game on Christmas, Earl should be alright by himself.

We’ll be alone for Christmas this year, too. It will be different….

We went to my folks for Christmas for the majority of the 25 years we’ve been married. Of course, that’s primarily because they were within 1 hour of driving, and my in-laws live over 1,000 miles away. Now that my mom died this fall (my dad died 8 years ago) we’ll go spend this Christmas with my in-laws. But it won’t be the very 1st Christmas with them, we would go once in awhile, and have my side’s Christmas at Thanksgiving. (I’m the only one married out of 5 kids, so we could set the schedule, as long as we gave enough notice.)

How long has it been since Earl and Opal met their daughter’s parents-in-law? Since the wedding or their grandson’s birth perhaps.
