You can get sunburned any time of year anywhere. Sunburns are not limited to summer, they are just more common because people wear fewer clothes. I am very fair skinned and have been sunburned every month of the year. Sunblock is a daily ritual for me.
They just made the annual pilgrimage up Oak Creek hill to the top of the rim so they could play in the snow. Highway 89 used to be crowded with people from the valley every weekend after a show.
Elsewhere in the desert, we got a day of snow last year. We got a day of snow 2 or 3 years this decade, a little more than usual. One year in the late 1960s we got 2 days of snow.

How would Earl be able to remember his youth? It was like forever ago.

Carmy There are those who resemble and resent that remark, but Earl has selective memory…and selective hearing. etc.

I live in Tempe, and I know for a fact you can’t get sunburned during the winter in Phoenix. (There’s no snow, either, but still …)

Ah yes, selective memory and selective hearing. What a blessing.

What’s about Opal dreaming and reminiscing the wonderful Christmases of her youth? I am sure she had good memories as Earl had.
gringo1936 almost 15 years ago
Yep, been there and actually did all that back in ‘56… and as I remember it, Earl was there with me.
