The only annoying one at our house gets to be my own mom. She is lonely, been a widow for 11 years, and on the phone alot. Knows when somehow to call when least expected on timing. To hard to explain.
Now my husband he only gets annoying with long explanations. Me I short on explaining.
He also reads faster then me.
Opal doesn’t have a psychological problem, Joe-Allen – well, not necessarily, anyway. :) People differ in their tolerance for the presence of others, and “normal” covers a pretty broad area. Some are simply happier when they’re alone, and it’s stressful to them when they’re not…so Earl probably knows that, and he’s button-pushing just by being there. A little tacky, but Earl and Opal are clearly the kind of elderly couple who keep each other energized that way. It’s just their style, and it works for them. So what?
Oh Opal! I know that Earl ‘s noise habits get you in the nerves. What’s about you? You still keep clicking the knitting needles too loud. I can hear you still keep clicking; “click! click! click!”
Just keep on flagging them, they go away eventually. (Sometimes pretty quickly. Yesterday, one started appearing while I was reading my first comic of the day and it was gone within 10 minutes.)
Many women might not admit it, but if they’ve been homemakers for years after the kids left home, they grew accustomed to having the house all to themselves while their husbands were working. Once the husband is retired, the woman suddenly loses that peace & quiet, so the husband is an irritant, just by being there.

Earl may have got his licks in today, but he better beware, Paybacks are of Opal’s choice when he is least expecting it. LOL

Is it a joy that he doesn’t realize it or a joy that he annoys her?
