I don’t know why Opal is surprised enough to drop her bag of groceries………..in the first panel, before she even puts the bag down in the kitchen, she’s asking Earl if anything happened while she was gone……..she seems to anticipate something will occur.
Not to intrude, but does anyone know where I can find a discussion on “Crankshaft”? That comic has gotten really weird. I’m wondering whether Rose would really be hallucinating out of guilt – is that psychiatrically feasible for a person who doesn’t have a history of mental illness? (nj.com/comics carries this strip).

Opal shouldn’t wrap leftovers in aluminum foil if she’s going to leave Earl alone at lunchtime.

@Grog
Most old people have a diminished sense of smell. If you get next to an old person you’ll notice.
