Look at the bright side. I’m sure it’s there, if you just decide to look for it. Maybe, if he really is disgusted with himself, he might just get up and do somrething about it. Not sure what he will do. That’s always a personal thing. Funny thing, that will probably be me, when I get older.

It’s like people who complain about the results of a election but didn’t vote.

Bob Valentine: There may be some, but most of those just reaching voting age, don’t complain, but have their face buried in a video screen as addicted as any in an opium den a century ago. In the ‘60s, I was talking to a learned rabbi. He said there wouldn’t be an armed uprising in the US as long as the populace has beer and TV. I asked if beer and TV was the true opiate of the people. He gave me a look that asked, “why did you have to word it that way?”; but he agreed. The only difference today is that we have more electronic gizmos to distract.

I’m afraid I have to disagree with hippogriff’s assessment of our youth. It was the same assessment given by our parents about us 50 years ago. My sense of history tells me that as we grow through life, we evolve in our critical thinking ( or at least some of us do ). As we mature, we will begin to be less self-directed and more aware of the world around us. Yes, there will always be selfish or self-centered individuals who will never progress beyond their own ego but ( perhaps, naively ), I believe that the majority of people are more concerned about the world and their legacy to humanity.I will be turning in my Curmudgeon Corner membership later.

The majority is apathetic. Sure there are activist youth today, otherwise the Republicans wouldn’t be trying so hard to disenfranchise them (a thug with a concealed gun permit has Texas voter documentation, a Phi Beta Kappa with just a voter registration and a school ID card will be stopped at the polls).
