I know based on plant but since Opal said 50 year anniversary wish they had celebrated 50 years.

When my sister passed in 2006, there was ivy in the vases we placed on either side of her memorial box (she was cremated.) I placed the ivy clippings in water and rooted them, then planted the clippings in two pots. I still have those pots of ivy. They live on the patio in the summer and in my family room in winter. They will be 10 years old this February, and I wouldn’t part with them for anything.

Ha ha, I’m glad they’re keeping positive, rather than considering the plant to be symbolic of their marriage!
