    Boy is she going to be surprised when she finds out no one turned on the dishwasher today. :-)

    Speaking of Earl doing the dishwasher, he once put dirty dishes in the clothes washer so the dishes AND the laundry can be done at the same time.

    @TEMPLO

    I don’t do them at the same time as clothes, but I sometimes put my silicone pans in the washer. (Gentle cycle. The washing machine once damaged a bread pan.)

    My lady rearranges the kitchen every couple months, so I never know where anything goes. We both agree that it’s her kitchen, but I have to use it too, dammit!

    Since I do the washing up and a put the stuff away, it stands to reason that I know where everything is ( hopefully ). My wife’s complaint is that I am 6’ tall, while she’s 5’ ( or less ) and since I’m not as agile as she is, I tend to put everything away on the kitchen cabinets too high for her to reach. I complain that she sticks things underneath, where I have to bend and stoop to reach.

    For me, it’s not the bending and stooping that’s hard. It’s the getting back up again. For her, it’s dragging out the kitchen step stool all the time to reach something.

    Good thing we work fairly well together in the kitchen !

    Which is why I had to ask my mother-in-law to not put away the clean dishes (or clothes) when she visited. She didn’t know where they went, and then we couldn’t find them when we wanted them.

    My husband will put away only the things he knows where they go. Only problem is, what he “thinks” he knows isn’t correct so I end up finding things in the wrong place. And no, I haven’t changed the kitchen in 25 years.

    When they opened the new teaching labs on campus our boss hired temps to move the equipment from the old building to the new. That was ten years ago — some things they’re still looking for!

    I am a neat freak…a place for everything…blah blah. However, I have (had) a mother-in-law and her sister who came to visit at different times usually, and since I worked, they helped out. I decided instead of having a small fit (alone) about what they did wrong, I accepted what they did…period! So what if my underpants weren’t folded correctly (the way I did it). In 2 weeks they would be worn, dirty, washed again and it all started over next time with ME folding them. If the dishwasher was not loaded/unloaded correctly, I accepted the fact that at least…they WERE getting washed and put away and out of sight! IE: accept the help you get, be grateful and know it is not the end of the world as you know it! They are both gone now and I would give anything to see them and again, have their help…right or wrong!
