I wonder why nobody ever says “this house is going to the sisters-in-law”?

My paternal grandfather used to say that visiting relatives are like fish: after a few days, they start to smell. In Earl’s case, the fish start to smell as soon as they’re brought home from the monger’s.

I wonder what Opal and Pearl’s parents were called. Rocky and Shelly?

Or Rocky and Ruby?

Did anyone else hear a “Hello Newman” tone in Earl’s voice?

Roscoe: “They can’t visit me. They live on Sirius!”

Roscoe never gets to see “His” family…

Why does Opal have to call her “my sister Pearl” when Earl knows darned well who she is? Does Brian Crane think a good number of his readers wouldn’t know that?

Walking the dog is always a great excuse to escape.

My first wife always wondered why, when she, occasionally, walked the dog, he’d want to go into every pub in the town.

Before he married Opal, he dated Pearl. It still makes for awkward visits, all these years later.

My husband chose to do extensive yard work or overtime at work when HIS mother visited.

That wasn’t so obvious now was it?

But if Roscoe’s relatives visited, it would be FUN! All those dogs in the backyard, playing fetch and running around… always different with humans.

They wuz poets and didn’t know it!

Pearl = Earl with a P — no wonder he needed to take the dog walkies again!
