Earl just wanted a big glass of OJ

I wouldn’t want to drink ANYthing out of a flower vase that may still have bits of dirt therein.

Don’t you start the dishwasher immediately after you fill it? Is this a weird division of duties where one person fills it and the other starts it?

WC Fields used to drink orange juice with vodka in it. One day, there was no vodka in it. He said “Who put orange juice in my orange juice?”

I’m with Earl. Just grab whatever is available. If you want cereal and no bowls are clean…just grab a small pot. It’s called improvising

At least it’s not one of those bottles they give you to use in hospital

If it’s got a flower in it, it’s a flower vase. If it’s got orange juice in it, it’s a drinking glass.

I guess all the jelly glasses were dirty.

It’s not a vase, it’s a snifter.

Flower juice gives you the runs. Just ask the birds.

Earl, you had ONE job to do!

I’ve been caring for a daughter who is recovering from surgery for the last week. I’ve been doing all the dishes by hand…there are only two of us…and I think, when I get home, I’ll start doing the dishes by hand. There’s only me, and two cats, and it takes less than 5 minutes, isn’t noisy, and if I let them drain, the dishes are right there on the counter for the next meal.

Even in houses and apartments where I had an electric or gas dishwasher, I rarely used it. I prefer to clean up, as much as possible, as I go, and wash the dishes and glasses by hand.

I know all the arguments – pro and con – but it’s just a lifelong habit I have. I can’t stand dirty dishes or pots and pans in the sink or building up in a dishwasher. It’s easier to clean them immediately after using.

My wife on the other hand…..which is why I do most of the washing up in the house

Before I bought the dishwasher I used to let the dirty dishes pile up in the sink until there were enough to make a hand-wash worthwhile. I must say it’s convenient to have somewhere to hide dirty dishes, whether I turn the dishwasher on or not.
