Why has no one tried to sell “Tuna of the Land” brand canned chicken?

Reminds me of a funny story about my Dad. A picky eater, his mantra was, “I don’t eat anything from the sea!” Fast forward: Mom died, Dad is “lost” and sad. He accompanies us to Europe as a diversion. First plane trip, business class… When it came time to chose his meal, he looked at what my husband and I were eating, which was smoked fish (and delicious). Knowing he would never chose it if he knew it was fish, we told him it was chicken. So he chose it. The whole time he was eating, we kept asking him how he was enjoying his “chicken”, and of course, he told us it was great! We had trouble keeping straight faces, giggling uncontrollably across the aisle from him. And of course, we waited until he was finished to confess that his dinner originated from the deep blue sea! The look on his face was priceless! HAHAHA. God, how I miss him…..

After that conversation, Earl could not resist that last zinger! Honestly, I wouldn’t have been able to either!

Why is it when you take tuna, add mayo, pickle relish, etc., people call it Tuna Fish Salad. If you do the same to chicken, no one calls it Chicken Bird Salad.

I don’t like casseroles for that reason – not sure what kind of protein I am eating.

I used to go to Long John Silvers just for that reason; everything is fried in the same oil so it all tastes the same.

Why doesn’t Earl get into the kitchen and cook and give Opal a break? He just sits around anyway!

Why do we frequently act as if it’s “fish” but never talk about chicken and turkey as “bird”?
