I’ve been doing it wrong all these decades; I thought window-washing was MY job, and my husband’s position is strictly advisory- advising me where I left streaks…
My spouse likes to introduce unpopular tasks using the royal “we”. As in, we need to scrub down all the patio furniture. My first response, I’ve learned over the years, is to decipher which “we” is being referenced. Is it “we, us”, “we, she” or “we, me”? It took me awhile to figure out why I was by myself most of the time.
I had a good laugh this spring. Answered the door and there were two little boys about 8 years old or so with a bucket and some rags. “Noticed your window is dirty, would you like us to wash it?” The window in question was the big picture window in the living room!
If they aren’t washed in a month, I will hire someone so you don’t have to do it. However, you will have to give up something to make up for the lost funds since we are retired on a fixed income and it’s your job. I tend to the inside on a daily basis, including meals three times a day. Windows are once or twice a year.

Great thing about having a stroke or dementia, you forgot what they told you, and they understand.

When my wife says think, it means we’re going to do it, whatever that is.

Earl operates off the words not the intent. Safer that way.
