My mother wouldn’t let us children kill spiders. Actual conversatio with her:

Mom: Don’t kill the spiders. They kill bugs.

Me: Mom, Raid kills bugs including spiders!

Not all bugs are true bugs. For example, lovebugs are flies, ladybugs are beetles, mudbugs are crustaceans, and the Love Bug was a VW Beetle in a 1969 movie staring Dean Jones.

“Boris the Spider” song comes to mind!

Could be worse, Opal, some folks have pet tarantulas!
