Although the whites on todays tires aren’t all that wide anymore, I still have them installed white side out. Just don’t scrape the curbs and keep ‘em clean, and they seem to add a bit more pizzaz.
In 1957 I bought a complete set of 6.70 x 15 tires from Ludlow Rubber Co. for $30.00, but I had to add my own white-walls. I think they called them :”Porter Walls”, and you could get a package of 4 for $1.50 They just slipped on the rims as you mounted the tires. And they were just as wide as the Plugger’s. Cool.
