There’s something different about scouting. When the GPS batteries fail, those who know the classic methods will do far more than those who don’t. Scouts are scouts because they want to be. And scouter volunteers do a great job building strong foundations in character and skill. (Isn’t that part of the plugger’s creed?)
Also, this is the 100th year for Scouting in America.
I found my old slide rule a few months ago and was somewhat depressed to realize that I can no longer remember how to do anything with it. Of course it has been over 30 years since I actually used the thing.

Pluggers would still use sextants, but their kids keep giggling about it.

The batteries never go out on a slide rule, and some of them work fine under water.
