A few years ago, we bought a true squirrel-proof bird feeder for my mother-in-law. It’s made of rust-proof metal and the platform in front of the opening is extremely pressure-sensitive. A bird is light enough to sit on it to get the seed but the weight of a squirrel causes the opening to clamp firmly shut, cutting them off from the seed.
