Been at this job going into my 6th year. Really like it except when the temps dip below freezing. Students love my baked goods. I get tickled when I hear people say to me, “I know you from somewhere”. Then I tell them about my corner. Their response is usually, Yea, that’s it!’. LOL
My wife has been a police crossing guard for 10yrs. She enjoys it, except for the people who speed and don’t obey signs. Had some ticketed. She started another year today. When I was a kid we had the Safety Patrol which were school kids (5 &6 grade) who stood on corners and crossed the kids. So many years ago… good memories.

When Japanese students go back to school (in the spring), they wear the same thing every day (no need to go for “back to school” clothes).

We never had crossing guards (or lollipop ladies / men as we call them here) when I was at school. Lots of traffic but nobody got killed or maimed.

Crossing guards are the bane of the working man’s existence.
