Since I found out that in things like lasana, cassaroles, etc. I don’t have to precook the pasta. Just throw it in and it cooks in the dish I’m making. No need for extra pans and a strainer that way.

Ah, the ubiquitous “Crock Pot”! We sold a ton of these in our hardware store when it was first introduced back in the late sixties or early seventies. The first ones were small, but soon evolved into a variety of choices!.At Christmas time, we would gift wrap these, along with electric knives and toasters and place them on an end cap ready to go. The local “guys” would come into our store, sometimes after spending early Christmas Eve at the local “Power House”, desperate for a gift for mom..The “Power House” was what the Savage Minnesota Liquor Store bar was affectionately called in those days…
