I guess it’s true that yesterday’s “Devil’s rock” (like The Rolling Stones) is today’s Muzak you hear in your corporate office.;-D

What if they’re newer than the ones you know the words to?

Last week my supermarket played “Rock Around the Clock”. I just love classical music.

As a part-time job to make ends meet, I used to sell and maintain Muzak equipment back in the early 60’s when an E-4’s pay lasted only a 3-week month in the Biloxi area. Fun, but tending bar and guitar-flailing was more profitable and besides, I met a lower-class of wimmin !

What I think interesting [BTW, I’ll turn 61 on 8/28/15] is that I don’t hear Muzak these days. Now “elevator music” is the original version by the original artist. Example, Hotel California by the Eagles being played in a supermarket when you know that would not have happened the year the LP was released.

A few years ago, there was a record of Paul McCartney’s Beatle tunes done in 19th century classical orchestration. Good stuff. I have wondered since if that what got him composing in that symphonic style.

You know you’re a Plugger if you find yourself in an elevator that plays music! LOL

You’re a plugger if you remember that word muzak! Hmm – maybe not, muzak passes spell-check.

Weirdest Muzak experience I ever had was walking through a supermarket hearing a Muzak version of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” — while the original Tears for Fears song was still in heavy radio airplay!!

I collect the oldies and besides knowing the words, I know what company the original was recorded with, how many versions there were of it.
