And that’s exactly where I went when my hubs got a white collar job and needed ties for the first time in his life. I got him a very nice collection of ties, too.

Not from Good Will, but I have purchased a few used neckties from thrift stores. (The only known article of clothing I bought from GW was a pair a waterproof-like training pants.)

You need to keep at least one tie for weddings and funerals.

I changed professions at age 55 to one (into federal service) where I wear a suit and tie every day. I got most of my ties from thrift stores. They’re cheap, and the quality is normally much better than modern ties. The 60s narrow ties are the best…

My husband sort of tried that. As a musician he’s not totally retired & occasionally needs a tie for a job. I keep remonding him he retired from a job -not life.

Last time Hubby wore a tie was to my mum’s funeral. He probably won’t wear one to mine, since I won’t be there to nag him.

Still have mine! Still wear one once in a while…

But, its a life saver. When I was a New York City Subway Conductor back in the 1980’s, we had to wear clip ons because if someone tried to strangle you by pulling on your tie. The clip on would just come off.

I agree. Need to keep a couple for marrying and burying.

A few for burying (don’t do a lot of marrying these days), plus some for church and, in my case, fruitless job interviews.
