Then there are the oldies but goodies tribute bands, which don’t come even close to the bands they are honoring.

If ‘Burn the Ballroom’ is playing, I’m going.

I began to realize how far out of it I was regarding recent rock music when a review of the 5th record by an apparently well-known band that I had never heard of referenced a “legendary” band from the early ’90’s that I had never heard of either.

Please tell me no of these are actual bands of today! I knew how out of touch I was about 10 years ago. I was still working & at lunch was glancing through a magazine called IN Touch someone had left there & I think I had heard of 2 people in the whole magazine.

So glad to know I am not alone.

Well, I haven’t heard of the Kongas, but I have heard the Kongos and like them. :o)

The Beach Boys are still touring with two original members, including Brian Wilson.

What about people who make bid $$ just for being famous?

I remember when Styx was a local band and my sister used to ride the train into downtown Chicago with Dennis De Young. My cousin is also in the tribute band Led Zeppelin 2.

I guess I’m a long term plugger…

What puzzles me is why modern female vocalists have to sing through their noses and / or screech. Have I been listening to Nico too long?

Yeah, we pluggers miss the bands with normal names, like Grateful Dead, Strawberry Alarm Clock, ? and the Mysterians. :))

well, I’ve heard of (and even seen once ! + own some of their music) Rusted Root… the others ??? Nope ! :)
