I started with an index file when we got married, and still have it. Easy to update names. Used to have a friend who lived in an RV; he’d move every six months.
I usually use a computerized list, but I also have an old address book which has mylar pages with little slots. You can fill out an address on a tiny card to slip into the slots (index cards cut up sideways work great,) or you can trim the address label off a greeting card envelope. Most standard return labels fit perfectly.
A spreadsheet works well, and you can sort on different birthdays, ages, states, marital status, notes, etc. It depends only on how many columns you choose to make.

I switched to a computer list years ago. Too many people move too often these days, ot to mention the marry & then divorce name changes.

Pentel makes an eraser that is 5 inches long in a holder. It works well for we pluggers who make almost as many mistakes as not.

It’s sad to look in the old address book, as much as the old Christmas Card list. So many dear people are no longer here.
