When I was in college — 50 years ago ! — some of my dorm mates who were on very limited budgets used to eat dog food occasionally because it was cheaper than equivalent people food.
First eliminate carbs and processed foods. If you can do that then most of your problems with food will resolve themselves. We dig our graves with our teeth.

Try it, it’s probably far more nutritious than what humans consume..
