This Plugger does not turn up the sound on the TV. My hearing is fine, and as a matter of fact, the first thing my kids will do when visiting is to turn up the sound on the TV after they turn it on because it is not loud enough for them.
Yes, but hearing loss can be traced back to playing music too loud in one’s younger years. (Says the hard of hearing 75 year old who played loud music)
I am hoping – as I rarely ever played anything loud – I will hang onto my hearing for quite a while. I am almost 62 and my hearing is perfect. We shall see what the next 10 years bring.
What I find annoying, now that my hair is completely gray, is that people assume I have a hearing problem. I don’t – I retired from 41 years of doing medical transcription and nursing because I had a broken back – not because I can’t hear! But some (of course, not all) people in stores, or in doctor offices or the hospital, will begin shouting the minute they start to talk to me! I was taught as a nurse (and I worked mostly in nursing homes) to try a normal volume at first, and then if the patient appears to be having trouble hearing, take further steps. Don’t start out by yelling! I guess that training went by the wayside. A minor problem, perhaps, but I do wish people wouldn’t make assumptions just based on my age and hair color!
