I walked out of a place because when I got to the counter, they didn’t.

To rephrase Kermit the frog a little, “it’s not easy [paying] green.”

In addition to stuff like THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY, Douglas Adams also created the computer game Bureaucracy. In one part of the game you eat in a restaurant that only accepts cash, which you don’t have, so you have to sneak out and stiff them. That happened to Adams in real life once!

Historically, when a society has two forms of currency you’ll generally find the elite ends up largely using one and poorer people the other—like silver coins for the rich and copper coins for the poor. It’s the same today with plastic for the rich and cash for the poor!

In the long run cash will be more valuable when the internet goes down and you can’t pay your dinner bill with your app.

Every US piece of paper money states “this note is legal tender for all debts, public and private.” I wonder if anyone will ever put this to a legal test in a no cash place.

Next, we’ll see that Pluggers are the ones that still insist on using the actual workers at the registers to order vs. the big touchscreen kiosks I’m seeing in the fast food joints now… even here, in the smaller towns… :-)

In future, they won’t be able to go back in time , in their time machine or thru hypnosis,(Somewhere in Time) because the won’t know what kind of currency they will need nor have access to it. (At least a 1979 penny won’t snap them back to reality, unless someone puts that penny in their pocket)

I always use cash but lately I have tended to cashless until the SS check arrives.

I have read that some convenience stores are actually going to a no-cash system, in order to prevent robberies. No sense robbing a place that doesn’t have any cash. Nothing like that around here, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it eventually does come here!
