The Tennessee Comprehensive Driver License Manual still shows hand signals. I’ll bet your state’s manual does too. If you haven’t looked at that manual since you got your license, get a copy from the web. You might relearn a few things you’ve forgotten. (I read our manual for at least an hour during each vacation we take.)
@ 10 years ago, as I was driving through town, my left arm was out the window and moving to the music I was listening to. As I pulled up to stop at the light while in the left turning lane, an elderly (@80) shoved his face very near mine and began to scream at me because he could not tell which direction I was going because he couldn’t read my hand signals. I kept his age in perspective that he may have had the very beginnings of mental dementia, where you remember more from many years before than the present. I let him vent and he got back in his car. Meh.
Just taught littlest (and last) grandson the arm signals this weekend as the training wheels came off the bike, as I did with all those who preceded him.

I used that a time or two when the turn signal switch was busted. I doubt most of my fellow drivers had a clue as to what I was doing.

You’re a plugger if a speeding drunk driver’s car breaks your left arm.

Do people even use hand turn signals anymore? It’s been years since I’ve seen them used myself.

Reminds me of riding a motorcycle without turn signals :-)

Many people are imbeciles who don’t even use their vehicle’s turn signals.

Isn’t it still?

I remember when people used all of their fingers to signal.

The single stop light on the truck is a interesting touch. Either the right-hand light has fallen off, or that’s a really old truck!

Sometimes you don’t know if the driver is making a right turn or drying their nail polish.

I remember when the same rules applied to bicycles. Helped auto drivers to avoid guessing what pedal powered vehicle drivers had in mind.

You’re a Plugger if you still have to use your left arm to signal because your turn signals don’t work any more

Hated bad weather too. The windows were hand-cranked making the process even longer. Good weather meant more hand signals.

So does that make a teenager a plugger if he uses them while riding a bicycle?

Modern people use finger signals now…

Only when the tail signal wasn’t working.

I nearly always use hand signals when I ride my bicycle. I don’t know if any drivers recognize them, though.
