We went to one of those, except it was just snacks, no dinner, and it was about leaving your estate to the Humane Society. Which is what we wrote into our wills. Why wills? Because in Oregon if you have a joint will and one person dies, the will is void going forward.
I get a lot of invitations to estate planning or burial/cremation plans. Most times at one of the “finer” restaurants in town. I really have to think before throwing those in the recycle!
Went to one once and it was the worse meal I ever had at that restaurant. Mentioned it to the hostess on leaving and she replied, “You get what they pay for.”
I’ve gotten several of those invitations to a nice restaurant for retirement investments. I have no idea why. I have no extra money for investing in anything. Plus, it would cost me $20 in Uber fares there and back, since there’s no bus at night. Needless to say, I have not attended…

Years ago our family of four got sucked into a time share sales pitch the same way, at the coast…it wasn’t worth it, took up a lot of our time.
