I had some great webs in my bushes. I thought, “who needs the plastic kind from the store”

When my daughter was 7, we sat on the porch one night and watched a large spider spin its web between the railing slats. We still reminiscence about it.

What about the spider webs in peoples homes? Leave them or remove them after Halloween?

One time, I had a group of Trick or Treaters come up to my house. A mother said look at the cute little spider decoration. I said I didn’t have any, Then the real spider dropped down to the rail and scampered off. She let out a screen that would have woke the dead. Scared the bjeezese out of the little kids, one even turn around running off screaming and crying. I started to laugh so hard I almost dropped the bowl of candy

Unless it is in the doorway, (then I just relocate it) I always leave the orb weavers alone. Great at keeping the bugs down. As kids we each picked one and would spend the summer trying to outdo the other on who could get their spider the biggest.

Spiders…. the original Halloween spooks.

Oh yeah…. wait, what’s this, “for Halloween”?

I am only slightly bothered by spiders. If I was living alone, I would leave spiders alone if they were outside. I find them fascinating (as long as they don’t startle me). In the house, I would try to remove them (depending on how big they are). If they are big (like the size of my palm), then I am afraid I am their enemy. My daughter is and my husband was arachnophobic. I was the designated “get rid of the spider” person. At one time my husband almost had a heart attack – literally – because of one. He wound up in the ER having his heart monitored. My daughter is not quite so bad has he was. But, yeah, no spiders near us in the house.

Don’t know about other parts of the U.S. but here in Georgia, we have Joro spiders who spin some marvelous webs. This is an example.

Pluggers go in for realism over the artificial, this spiderweb comes with a real spider.
