My dad still gets catalogs for my mom. She passed in 2016.

Everything Plaid sounds like something Al Borland would also have a subscription to.

And they include an order form with your name and address printed on it.

I’m reading this on my computer. I’ll shop online, too- but I compare prices there with the local stores. Amazon isn’t always the cheapest.

I made a purchase from the Danbury Mint in 1988. I still get a catalogue from them.

My first seed catalog came last week. I guess that makes me a gardening Plugger!

In the course of a year, i should save all of the catalogs i get in the mail. I bet the stack would be pretty high. If I buy from one company, i get numerous catalogs from other companies I’ve never heard of.

Amazon sent me a toy catalog in the mail…

Love looking at the catalogs I get ! That does not mean I will buy ;-) The catalogs do make good material for the reading room ;-)

Use the catalog to order online.

It’s Christmas time. You’re going to get catalogues, Amazon or not.

Shopping online and getting catalogs in the mail are not mutually exclusive. I have to daily unstuff both my mail box and my spam folder of unwanted, unneeded and unnecessary dross.

I get more catalogs than I do bills. If I had an Outhouse, I’d have a lifetime supply of toilet paper.

This comment is in remembrance of Plugger Bart N. Recently passed @ 87. I am picking up his mail. He (or more correctly, his mailbox) receives at 2 catalogs a day and sometimes as many as 6 now that the holidays are approaching.

I get tons of catalogs, and just chuck them out. I wish I had a dime for every one that said “This is your LAST catalog if we don’t hear from you!”

I’ve found the catalogs useful. They go on the bottom of my kitchen garbage can to protect the cheap plastic bag and absorb liquids. Works pretty good.

I’m not sure how to stop catalogs from coming. I have been ordering from catalogs online since the 90s because it was faster and more efficient that filling out their little form and mailing it in. Way before Amazon. But I still get catalogs in the mail every month — this time of year, its every couple of days. I use them like I used to use newspapers — under things I am painting, drying, etc. — and they all get recycled. I am torn between wanting them stopped and wanting to make sure the Post Office stays in business.

I mourn the demise of printed catalogues. Especially the ones like Cabela’s.

Many years ago, the Sears Christmas catalog gave us kids wide eyes fantasizing over finding some of those divine toys under our tree. But over the years, the catalog that showed up in my mailbox most often was Fingerhut. It was fun leafing through it to see the latest offerings. I never ordered anything but lots of people must have to justify them spending so much money to print and mail all those catalogs. At some point, they quit giving them away and now you have to shell out $2 for a hard copy…. refundable on your first order. The interweb changed their business model but they’re still going strong. You still have to decide whether you want black or brown shoes.

Except for the fact that no one prints catalogs any more.

How about when you get catalogues in the mail AND order from Amazon (a lot)?

I’ll try everywhere else before going to Amazon.

My grandparents made good use of the Montgomery Ward catalog (which he pronounced “Monkey Ward”) in their two-holer.

I shop on Amazon, among others. But, the catalogs keep showing up in the mail. Some from the companies I only shop online.

I’m looking for the rare “Clothes Without Logos” catalog. Anyone?

More and more people buying from Amazon et al have contributed to the demise of thousands of small independent stores around this country. Browsing on-line is not the same as in a 3D store.

I shop local every time I can – even if it costs more. I have used Amazon to find what I want and then searched out the manufacturer and ordered it direct. I use catalogs I get in the mail a lot. Amazon is the last resort.

We do not order ANYTHING unless there is NO CHOICE but to do so. Don’t think we have had a delivery that did not have some sort of problem – wrong items, damaged items, items left sitting in the rain…

In addition delivery people leave packages sitting at foot of driveway adjacent to sidewalk, driveway maybe 20 ft from house to sidewalk. We live on 4 lane main street across street from a bus stop – want to talk about stuff disappearing? We had managed to resolve this problem (mostly) by signing up for “Street Addressing” for our business PO box and then we could have items delivered there, but of course during the pandemic we had our address changed from the box to house for all mail as not going out to the box.

Mid March 2020 we tried ordering food from BJs – person goes, buys items, delivers it. Mostly did this for meat items – out of about a dozen we got one item – bag of ice offered as alternative to meat item – and it was delivered to the wrong door and deliverer threw used mask on our driveway.

Then tried ordering food from Walmart – local WMs do not deliver. Order delivered over 4 days in small boxes – came from across country – New England to California locations. Cans dented almost in half. Boxes looked stepped on. Plastic bottles necks were bent and won’t go back.

Husband ordered Christmas gifts for his nieces last year first week of December from Amazon as not going to see them – one gift delivered in January, not within 2 weeks. Charged for delivery even though over min for free delivery as came from 2 different locations – added 1/3 to price. Only ordered from Amazon to use up given gift certificates from them he had been given. Don’t understand why anyone likes ordering anything – never works right.
