Guess I’m not a plugger. My right ankle swells up from time to time because a tough guy tried to remove that foot by main force and awkwardness. My right knee gives me pain sometimes because it got broken in a motorcycle accident about 40 years ago. The knee informs me that there has been a rainstorm within the past 24 hours. Thanks a lot.
One of the things they don’t tell you about getting old (well, they do, but nobody ever listens) is how one day you wake up, and something new hurts, and you know it’ll hurt for the rest of your life.
My aunt used to say she had ‘a hitch in her giddy-up’. It seems to be a family trait. My mom called it her trick knee. I call it irritating. You can be walking along just fine or going down the stairs and suddenly the knee locks and you’re glad you were holding onto the hand rail.
I twisted my ankle back in high school and “tore” something in my left ankle. Back then they x-rayed it so knew it was not broken – that left “torn” as the reason. When it bothers me I have to rotate it in a certain way to make it go “pop” (not into place or anything – just go pop) to make it better. I did get out of gym for several months due to the injury.
At some point much later in life I did something to my right ankle also – don’t remember what or where or when it was, but it also needs to be popped, a much less often than the left.
The collarbone I broke when I was 3 does not bother me at all. (We would go to a bungalow for the summer and rules at home – such as bouncing on the bed – did not apply there. I was bouncing my parents’ bed with my dad sitting next to me and my mom at the foot of the bed taking out my clothes for the day. I went up from the bed, came down and landed on the floor. ) Spent the summer with my left hand taped to my chest to deal with it. Though the X-rays from it did get me extra credit in many a science class when I brought them in.

Maybe your knee is telling you it’s gonna rain soon.

Because at some point, a plugger can’t keep track of where all his aches and pains are coming from. The central switchboard in the brain is jammed.

As Walter Brennan said on “The Real McCoys” I’ve got a hiccup in my giddyup.

A Plugger’s nerve/muscle system is on a antiquated fiber-optic system that’s a little clouded and takes awhile to make a full connection.

… and where did that pain in my back come from?
I don’t remember straining my elbow.
Why does my shoulder hurt when I raise my left hand above my head?

I know why mine does, just had a total knee replacement. Doc is happy, so I am happy.

Once an impala – now a limp, alas!

Two bad knees from 50 years of standing while working. That’ll make you limp.

That clicking sound with every step is a little annoying, too.

I know why I walk with a limp, it’s my left knee acting up. I don’t know why the knee does what it does.
