I have long hair that I put up with a hair clip. When doing reenactments I use a metal barrette instead as it is easier to hide under my cap as it is flat. When my hair gets too long, I put it in a pony tail and bring same over my head to the front – and snip – it is cut. No need to worry about if it is straight or not.
Husband let his hair grow long when we started reenacting (18th century). He wears his hair pulled back in a queue (pony tail to us modern people). When his hair gets too long I cut if for him and then clear the areas where he doesn’t want hair on his neck with an electric razor.
During the pandemic was the same as normal times for us as far as our hair goes.
Long hair. Never have to worry about your hair.
