You may not need it any more. But you wouldn’t want someone to step on and maybe hurt themselves.

Just buy a grabber (an extension arm with a claw) and move on.

I’d use one of those “grabber” things. Makes picking things up A LOT easier.;D

There are a lot of types of grabbers you can buy. Mine has the grabber jaws plus a hook for grabbing hold of cables, as well as a small magnet built into the end of one of the jaws. I have one in almost every room, and one in the garage as well.

I stoop down to pick things off the floor so it’s not an issue.

I still pick up pennies on the sidewalk. They are made of copper-clad zinc now and that can do bad things to critters GI.

I play VR games with my kids. When the game makes you bend down to actually pick up something from the ground, as opposed to just pointing at it and clicking, I get irritated!

George Burns said one is old when they lean down to tie their shoes and think about what else they can do while they’re down there. (I’ve reached that point)

Unfortunately I don’t ask that until I’ve bent down and have to wonder how I’m getting back up.

I literally had this thought this morning when I dropped a spoon after making coffee, ultimately decided the effort was worth avoiding getting “the look” from the husband..

I’m at an age where, if I drop something, I have to ask my wife if she’s expecting any of our kids to be visiting soon…

Bending over for something always needs a vote.

There is no fork. There is no floor. There is only the motion, in the void.

Before my first heart attack back in ‘06, picking something up from the floor meant getting down on my knees, and then asking for help getting up. After that I started walking an eventually running, and got so I could pick up coins by bending over. I still can do that as long as I have something to hold on to to keep my balance. I still can’t get myself up after a fall unless I have something to pull myself up with. Now, I often carry a cane, just for that purpose.

Pushing 70 here. I can bend down now better than I used to (as I have lost and kept off a good deal of weight over the past decades plus). Husband on the other hand can quite easily bend down and pick up things also, but if does bend down he gets sick. So he has grabbers all over the house and one in our RV. Of course the problem is that the grabbers all fall over end up on the floor, needing him to get another one to pick up the one which fell. If I am in the same room and see him drop something or hear something drop while in an adjacent room, I come running to pick up whatever it is he dropped.
