Never had one of those Pill Things . Good luck to those that do . If one is on that many pills one should be doing a monthly review to make sure they are all doing what the Doctor is trying to take care of. Lots of interactions occur ;-)
I have a circular (well, seven-sided) pill organizer that the painted on letters rubbed off. I now have to get the right day after I fill the container by “reading” the Braille dots on the lids…
With only two prescribed meds, a baby aspirin, and a low-dose of Lantus I don’t need an organizer. However, once in a great while I could use a rememberer.
Funny how insurance companies will pay for testing that will show you need meds but not for the ones that will show that you don’t. Thyroid for me. That’s it. Third leading cause of death is medical mistakes. Follow the money.
Husband started taking meds long before I did. When he started taking his first pill I bought a day of the week box for him and set it up. He insisted he did not want or need it. I told that him that first time he did not remember if he took his pill I would appreciate it. He insisted that he would not forget to take his pill or nor would he ever be sure if he had taken it or not. (This is back in his 30s or 40s.) One day not long after he came to me and said his normal comment – that he should know I would be right.
We now each have 2 different day of week setups for our pills. Our home setup is a morning DofW box for each on our dressers, our lunch and dinner pills go in a DofW box each which is kept in the kitchen next to the table and he has another DofW box there for the pills he takes before we go up to bed at night.
When we travel we do in a Class B RV – aka a converted Chevy van – a very tight space. For traveling I have a set of the day of the week boxes where each day pulls out of tray and all the pills for that day are in that day’s box. What I do with this setup is his am pills go in the am section, his meal pills go in the dinner section, and his night pills go in the night section. ALL of my pills go in the lunch section as I can tell which pill is which and not get confused. The RV has one countertop area with the sink on one end and the 3 burner propane stove on the other.

It seems to that if you reach ninety it would not matter if you took your meds ( in most cases).

It’s not necessarily the quantity of pills, but the size of each one that is a problem.

It helps if you keep the over-the-counter pills in a separate organizer. :)
