I’m just waiting for it to become an Olypic event. A lifetime of training will finally pay off.

Must be a non-lever assist recliner where you have to push on the arm rests and lean back to recline. Then throw your weight forward and push down with your legs to return the recliner upright. All the while emitting grunts and groans.

It reminds me of my workout in reaching the bird feeder.

The real exercise begins when you try to get out of the chair……

You need an electric recliner to do the leg lifts.

I had a nice, comfortable recliner chair (in fake leather) when we lived in our apartment. I am short and my feet do not reach the floor in many chairs, especially living room type chairs, so the recliner was nice and comfy for me – there was a handle to open the chair.

We moved (about 30 years ago) and husband decided that we should decorate the living room in 18th centuryish. So I got a new recliner which looks like a regular chair. Very pretty – problem is that it does not have a handle to open it. I have trouble sitting in it and pushing it open by using my feet against the floor as they do not reach it. I have sit forward with one leg on either side of the lift up section and push and the quickly move backwards at the right second to shift my weight back to keep it open.
