I get free movies on Dish Network. There is not one good movie on any of the choices. More and more animated shows . I’m no kid, what do I want to watch this crap for?
We used to have date night every Saturday. In early years dating we also went weekly to a local art cinema for Friday Midnight movie after work. (First date was one of same.)
When Covid started we had Saturday night on TV movies – on the TV next to the kitchen table. “Saturday date night movie on TV”.
As time went along he decided to buy a small big screen TV. This was problematic for many reasons. Our living room is decorated (by him) as Colonial Revival. Our regular TV in that room is hidden in 18th century furniture. I was not allowed, other than at Christmas, to put anything in the room which did not appear to be 18th century. So now we have a bigish screen TV sitting on a modern table from Ikea in the room. Another reason this is problematic is that these TVs hurt my eyes. When this was discussed when he was going to buy it he explained that the sets on display are set very bright and at home we would turn off the special setting for stores and it would not that bright. We never did find this adjustment. So I sit with antiglare glasses on and earplugs as the lowest sound level is still too loud for me (and I have fired a repro 18th century cannon many times without it bothering me). So this is rather a lot of fun. At least I can sit on the sofa on the side wall as when I sat on a chair he understood how uncomfortable it was for me as I had to bring in a step to put my feet on as they do not reach the ground when I sit on a chair, etc.
Somewhere along the way he came up with the idea of our also having “Friday night midnight movie on TV” also. First one was, of course, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Following Fridays we watched our way through the assorted Marx Brother movies and other older movies we have on DVD or found online. ( Have not figured out how to hook up one of our Beta or VHS players to it.)
After all these decades at least he still wants to date.

We’ve seen all the Ted Turner classic movies TWICE.
And the game shows.
We can do all the drug commercials. And we know all the side effects.
