Poncho: Hudson? Hudson: Hi, Poncho. I just wanted to say sorry for stealing your stick today in the park. Poncho: Don't worry about it. Hudson: No, no. It was yours. I only coveted it because you had it. I've got to learn to be more mature about these things, and I wanted to return it. Here. Take it. Please. Poncho: Okay. Grrrrr! Hudson. Grrrr!

Lonewolf, what they accomplish *is* struggling for the stick. There is no other point. My dog does the same. He’ll bring me a stick or a ball, push it against my foot until I grab it - then he’ll play tug-of-war with me until he wrestles it away. Then he’ll run to the next room for a minute to prove he won. Then he comes back and pushes it against my foot again to start all over.
It’s like asking what the point is of chasing a little white ball around a golf course.

When I first looked at the last panel I thought the two were kissing, which I must say was quite the surprise!

I love the continuous seamless transition between what is “dog” (or pigeon or squirrel or cat or…) and the human-like attributes of the animals. Paul’s genius again!
