That’s so funny! We had on the old gate a bell and years after there was a new gate and the bell has been taken off, whenever we rung (?) the bell all the dogs run barking to the gate, ha ha. And it held even after my mother moved to another place.
“Get Fuzzy” had the same joke back in 2003: https://www.gocomics.com/getfuzzy/2003/03/14
It’s probably an old joke that goes back even further in time. I thought it was pretty funny, though, and every once in a while when somebody tries to tell me a “knock knock” joke, I say “woof, woof, woof!” in response to the “knock knock.” Good times.

Did you know that “knock knock” jokes were probably a product of speakeasy culture?

We have a pug. We have never had a door bell. He has never lived in a house with a door bell. BUT if a door bell rings on TV he starts barking. :)

Okay, so there’s a reason the Pooch Cafe doesn’t have a comedy night. On the positive side, the karaoke night rocks.
