OMG dogs DO NOT like vacuums nor rug cleaners. Although Alex loved the vacuum he’d follow me around. Now the rug cleaner not so much as it got rid of all the “Alex” smells. Our other dogs didn’t give a hoot one way or another. Our animals got used to the vacuum quickly since I vacuumed every single day. Now without them I can get by with 2 times a week.
Some dogs don’t mind vacuum cleaners. In fact, I had a husky that LOVED being vacuumed – we’d take the power head off (of course), turn on the suction and give him a good vacuuming to get rid of all those clumps of hair. (At times I could “pluck” them off him as he blew his coat, but living in Canada, it wasn’t all at once, it was basically late spring through early fall you had to deal with it).
Then again, he really didn’t mind a lot – a dog with not a care in the world and would lie there like a lump on a log. In the summer, he’d sleep right on top of the air conditioning vent and wouldn’t budge unless there was food or a walk.
And of course, he’d get totally confused, since in the summer he’d want to be indoors (cooler), while in the winter, he’d want to go outside. He didn’t get used to this so in the summer he’d go out then realize it was hotter and want to come back in, and in the winter it would be the opposite, so he couldn’t ever decide if it was time to stay in or out.

If Poncho’s trying to get Service Dog certification, he’s got a long way to go.
