I had a German Shepherd who could smell fear. He loved everybody but barked aggressively at two people who later told me they were afraid of him. I never asked him what fear smelled like. Probably red meat (a steak)
My dog had her yearly exam at the vet’s yesterday. There was a dog barking in the exam room next to us – something I don’t think ever happened in the decades I have been seeing this vet – and my little therapy dog clearly wanted to go calm the dog. I could hear the fear in the bark. But yes, dogs do smell fear, and not all dogs will react to it the same way. Anyone who ever picked up a dog from a kennel after a few days’ stay can identify the fear smell if a bath wasn’t given just before pick up. It stinks. It stinks strongly.

So Poncho’s ability to sense fear could be put out of whack by a bowl of breakfast cereal.

I’d eat grass and water before eating anything made by Kelloggs.

I’m ROFL at Poncho’s description of the “bloodthirsty frenzy”!
