Winston Groom’s novel actually started with the line “Bein’ an idiot ain’t no box of chocolates.” (If they couldn’t be faithful to it, they should have left it out instead of turning it into an opposite statement!)

And now, all the chocolates are on the ground.

Very often, being helpful isn’t helpful, really.

You know, I’ve never watched the entire movie. Started to watch it with my wife’s brother and his family, something came up and we stopped it. Got to admit, I was pretty happy, it wasn’t my cup of tea.

Just be sure to hold the lid on.

I’ll admit I haven’t even seen a box of chocolates in years. And I’m probably not as savvy as some people about them, because I like ALL of the types of candy in them! But I seem to remember that the types were listed inside the box, on the underside of the lid, not on the back/bottom of the box. I remember reading the list to help out kids or other people who didn’t like certain kinds of candy. I’m a bit suspicious (though without a good reason) that Poncho is hoping “Forrest” will spill all his candy looking at the back of the box (as some have mentioned). But it’s also possible that he’s just ruining the saying for the fun of it.

As I recall, it is the Whitman’s Sampler that has a chart inside the lid. Other brands, not so much.

Is that Forrest’s cousin?
