    That’s because whenever you girls talk loud, your babbling is understandable - so Dads know what you’re babbling about - nevertheless boring, which is why Dads pretend they don’t hear you - or ask you to stop it.

    Somehow it’s more interesting when it’s whispered, because it seems like a secret. And everyone wants to know a secret.

    When I was ten and had a teen-aged sibling, my parents didn’t mind if secrets were whispered in my ear – until I got old enough to realize I didn’t have to tell them later when they asked.
