Now we have one that can only insincerely speak what is written on a teleprompter by someone else and still stumbles over the words. Definitely not an improvement.
Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address was famous for its content, not its delivery. As this was many decades before even radio was invented, virtually no one heard him give the speech. Instead, it was re-printed in newspapers.
In the modern era, people have to use teleprompters because the public has come to expect perfection from public speakers. If Lincoln stumbled over a word or two, only a handful of people ever knew it. If Obama does, millions of people hear it, and hordes of pundits leap to criticize him for it.

That was funnier when it was written - the president at the time was infamous for his poor command of the language.

Please don’t get the Pres., or anyone else from Washington involved in Thanksgiving, it happened once.
FDR thought he’d moved Thanksgiving up one week to lenthen the Christmas shoping season, congress disagred.
All said and done congress passed a bill putting the hoiday were it is now.
So please don’t let them birds in Washington get a hold of it again, or any other hoiday, monday hoidays can be bad enough.

At least George was inventive and entertaining in his (ab)use of the language – much like Stick!
