Our tents were blankets clipped to the clothesline and a nearby fence, with a hose and bucket serving as the kitchen sink. Friends with porch railings stretched blankets over those. Which reminds me of a dream from back then when as a prince (in sweatshirt and baseball cap) I used my wrapping paper tube lance to open one such, only to be admonished by Snow White, who lived therein. After waking I tried to write it up as a play, but had to make her tentmates six dwarves because I couldn’t remember Bashful.

We used the kitchen table the same way. Made a cool “fort.”
