Macy’s wouldn’t care. Their name was synonymous with Thanksgiving for decades but now their objective seems to be the destruction of the holiday. They were at the forefront in the push to have stores open on Thanksgiving Day starting back in 2013. Then everyone else had to jump on the bandwagon.

You might as well scratch Thanksgiving Day off the list of holidays. At one time it was a nice four-day weekend; now it’s becoming just a fancy marking on the calendar. Just like New Year’s Day, Easter and July 4th, holidays are becoming a thing of the past.

Played R.H. Macy in an updated “Miracle on 34th Street” a few years ago. Apparently Gimbel’s had closed in the 40 years since I’d shopped its basement; my rival (played by one of my favorite docs to work with) was Bloomingdale.
