My s-i-l was over with my brother for a couple of nights. She had the twin bed to herself, said she would get a better sleep not having to listen to my brother snoring. Second night, she kept him up with her snores.

My husband is a heavy snorer. Soon after we were married I read a Dear Abby letter about a widow who said that she used to complain about her husband’s snoring; now she would give anything to hear it again. I’ve never complained about my husband’s snoring since. As a matter of fact, I sleep better hearing it.

It’s my wife who’s the big snorer. I typically get up around 3:00 and finish the night on the sofa.

Isn’t “I’m so sick of everyone complaining around here” also a complaint?

Some couples have found that sleeping in separate bedrooms is actually better for their relationship. It can be beneficial, not only if someone snores, but also if one person is a restless sleeper, or if they have very different sleep schedules, or different sleeping needs (such as temperature or light). Don’t assume that just because you’re married means you necessarily have to share a bed.
